You Came to Learn, We Left Inspired

Dear friends,

What a year it’s been. 2020 has been referred to both as the year that wasn’t, and also as the year that will never end. This year has thrown unexpected punches and served up unwelcome plot twists; it’s challenged our circumstances, our conviction, and our commitments. Through it all, one thing kept us moving forward at edX: you.

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit our global community, you refused to let anything get in your way. Rather than dwell in the uncertain, you made a commitment to progress. At a time when it might have been easier to stand still and let the world happen around you, you did the opposite. You came to learn. And we left inspired.

Taking a cue from all of you, we decided it was time for edX to show up in a bold new way, just like you’ve shown up for us. So today, I’m excited to share with you a brand new look for edX, and a reaffirmation of our commitment to you.

You’ll see a few things that look a little different. For starters, our logo is new, our website looks a little shinier and a lot (we hope!) easier to navigate. Our goal is simple - how can we better help you unlock your potential? That might mean making it easier to identify what edX course or program will help you get to the next step in your career, or maybe it means helping you figure out what coding language (and from which expert professor) you should learn.

We're also excited to make you feel a little bit closer to the movement that you're already such an important part of. We are committed to showcasing not only the learning opportunities on edX, but also the amazing network of people that make it all possible - that includes learners like you, professors who teach courses, and the open source community of developers who contribute to our platform. We know how much this sense of community has inspired us, and we know that, together, you’ll inspire each other to keep moving forward.

We hope you will join us in celebrating what’s next: at edX, and for each of you in your careers, your families, and your communities. Here’s to the start of a new year, together.
