We are pleased to welcome The University of Michigan to edX. U-M joins as a Charter Member with plans to offer 20 new courses on edX over the next two years.
Michigan’s first edX MOOC is Finance for Everyone: Smart Tools for Decision-Making and is now open for enrollment. Taught by Professor Guatam Kaul, this introductory finance course will examine tools and frameworks for learners to apply to making smart financial and everyday decisions.
Professor Kaul, who serves as University of Michigan Digital Education & Innovation’s first Innovator in Residence, is a huge proponent of MOOCs for both global online learners and students enrolled on campus. He said participation in the nonprofit edX platform will allow even more learners to develop a better understanding of finance.
Michigan’s next two MOOCs, open for enrollment in the coming months, will focus on data science ethics and learning analytics.
U-M was one of the first universities to offer MOOCs to learners around the world, and we are honored to connect the global edX learning community with Michigan’s high-quality educational content.
As a prestigious public research institution, Michigan will also be an important collaborator with edX on both technology and research contributions. Michigan is particularly interested in edX’s open-source platform and harnessing the best technology to deepen their use of learning analytics to deliver academic excellence to learners everywhere.
We look forward to sharing more news about University of Michigan on edX in the coming weeks and months. Please join me in welcoming Michigan to edX.
