How to Start Your STEM Career – Six Science Courses

The shortage of qualified candidates for STEM – science, technology, engineering, and mathematics – jobs has dominated headlines in recent years. There were nearly 8.6 million STEM jobs in May 2015, representing 6.2 percent of U.S. employment, and this will only increase in the years ahead. In fact, many top companies, such as GE, have launched workplace initiatives to curate and train talent to fill their STEM roles.

In a series of four blog posts, we’ll be highlighting courses available on edX that you can take as your first steps towards exploring and learning this valuable skill set. Up first, we dive into the vast selection of science courses on edX. From anatomy to astronomy, geology to physics, there is a science concentration for everyone.
