“Something students should know about studying physics is that science is everywhere. Physics is everywhere, and many phenomena in nature can be explained by physics,” says Professor Mak Paranjape. “So to study physics, it is not critical to just learn the formula, but to understand how to use the concepts of physics.”

This MOOC introduces key concepts such as electrostatics, conductors, capacitors, dielectrics, electric circuits, magnetic fields, and electromagnetism. In addition to completing activities, simulations, and tutorials, students will learn from physics professors and scholars from renowned academic institutions, including Georgetown faculty. This course explores conceptual reasoning, critical equations, and how to apply these to problem solving. Learners will also build physical representations to help them make sense of complex situations.

Additionally, current physics teachers will have the opportunity to learn about freely available online research-based resources to use in their classrooms, as well as examples of how to apply these resources.
