I am a Product Marketing Manager in Barcelona, with a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering and an MBA. I took UTAustinX’s UT.6.01x Embedded Systems – Shape the World because I wanted to update my knowledge and practice on Embedded Systems in general and in ARM microcontrollers as they are one of the most used platforms nowadays, from industrial control systems to mobile phones and robotics or medicine. I blogged about my experience here.
Even though I have a formal and practical education, and have working experience on electronics, the course was challenging sometimes but always rewarding. Besides great online course materials and lecturers, experience with peers in forums was great and very helpful! In addition to learning, I met some classmates and we continue to share experiences on these topics via our private Facebook group for the course.
I think edX has revolutionized the way on learning, not only online but also offline with topics as hard as Electronics and Embedded Systems that were though to be taught and learned offline. This course has helped me mostly for my personal growth to update my skills, and also helped me to develop my next project: a robot to attract my kids to learn technology through robotics.
I need to continue to expand, reinforce and learn some topics about skills that are related to my professional career. I’m waiting now for: LFS101x Introduction to Linux, 3.086x Innovation and Commercialization, 6.00.1x Introduction to Computer Science and Programming Using Python.
EdX gave all path, lecturers and online materials to make as easy as possible to learn as complex topic as Embedded Systems in a easy way. It was a great experience!
