edX Welcomes University of Canterbury

We are excited to welcome the University of Canterbury (UC) as a partner to the edX partner network of 150+ universities, colleges and companies.

Located in vibrant Christchurch, New Zealand, UC is dedicated to creative and innovative research-informed education. With increasing global demand for online education, UC’s partnership with edX gives UC the opportunity to reach a large, growing international market, while enabling greater educational access for learners in Aotearoa New Zealand.

UC is launching with two Professional Certificate programs in the in-demand fields of statistics and computer science, Statistical Analysis in R and Text Analytics with Python. Professional Certificate programs are a series of courses designed by industry leaders and top universities to build and enhance critical professional skills needed to succeed in today’s most in-demand fields. UC is also launching with a course in Smart Cities. All courses and programs are free to try, and open for enrollment today.

“These courses reinforce our commitment to deliver accessible, lifelong learning opportunities for all – whether that is in the form of professional and career development education or education for interest.” – Catherine Moran, UC Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic and Tumu Tuarua Akoranga Professor.

edX and UC recognize the importance of online learning, especially as the COVID-19 pandemic drives more people to learn online than ever before. We’re thrilled that UC is making their expertise available to the 35 million learners on edX, and we look forward to announcing additional courses in the future.

Please join me in welcoming the University of Canterbury to edX.
