edX Welcomes University of Bayreuth

We are thrilled to welcome the University of Bayreuth to the global community of edX partners, comprising a distinguished group of 150+ universities, colleges and companies.

University of Bayreuth is one of the first universities in Germany that was established with a focus on interdisciplinary studies, and is now known for its research-oriented teaching. Their first course, Value Co-Creation in Sport Management – A New Logic in a Changing Society, is now open for enrollment. It focuses on the innovative logic of value co-creation, and starts with a comprehensive overview of the logic of sport products and its limitations, which point to the importance of a new way of thinking in sport management.

Prof. Dr. Torsten Eymann, the Vice President for Digitalization & Innovation, emphasizes, “We, at the University of Bayreuth, are pursuing an intensive digitalization strategy that started already before the coronavirus pandemic and the associated restrictions on in-person classes on campus. We recognized the need for digital formats much earlier and opted for edX. The MOOCs are a further step towards the availability of courses independent of time and place, and they enable us to test and refine new formats and methods. Therefore, these courses are an important addition to the digitization of our university.”

Together, the University of Bayreuth and edX are working to expand access to education for everyone, and the launch of the first BayreuthX MOOC gives edX’s community of 35 million learners the opportunity to gain access to this high-quality learning.

Please join me in welcoming the University of Bayreuth to edX.
