We are pleased to announce that Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) has joined the edX partner community with the launch of two MicroBachelors® programs. A fellow non-profit and innovator in the education space, SNHU and edX are both dedicated to reimagining the undergraduate learning space, and we are thrilled to further this joint commitment as partners.
The COVID-19 pandemic brought unexpected challenges this year, but it also opened up new opportunities for us to come together and support one another. When we launched MicroBachelors programs in January 2020, we knew they solved a real and urgent need for working adults. Now, in 2021, as the global economy continues to grapple with the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, MicroBachelors programs are more relevant than ever.
Online education has become not just optional, but essential. As a fellow agent of change in the higher education space, SNHU places a focus on the future and student success, and has been expanding access to education through innovative pathways that meet the unique needs of learners since 1932.
“As we’ve seen throughout the pandemic, it is clear that learners need access to affordable bursts of learning now more than ever,” said Paul LeBlanc, President and CEO, SNHU. “Through the new SNHUx programs, learners will be able to study at their own pace, obtain workforce-relevant skills, and apply credits when they enroll at SNHU – creating an even more affordable pathway to an associate or bachelor’s degree. We could not be more proud to launch these MicroBachelors programs with edX, and look forward to working together to continue expanding access to higher education.”
SNHU is launching with two MicroBachelors programs in Business Analytics Foundations and Data Management with Python and SQL. MicroBachelors programs are the first credit-backed stackable credential, marking a significant milestone in online learning. Created by edX in an innovative partnership with top universities and Fortune 1000 corporations, MicroBachelors programs deliver immediately transferable skills to meet the real-world needs of employers, while providing a pathway to a full Bachelor’s degree.
The Business Analytics Foundations program provides some key foundational skills necessary for a career in business and data analysis, including knowledge of scripting languages like Python. The Data Management with Python and SQL program provides some key foundational skills necessary for a career in data analytics and management, including database management and scripting languages. These two programs share one course, Scripting with Python.
The programs are each worth up to six credits upon successful completion and admittance to SNHU. All courses are open for enrollment now, and start on February 26.
