edX Launches New Workforce Recovery Acceleration Program

Over 300 million people around the world, with 30 million people in the U.S. alone, have lost their job due to the COVID-19 pandemic and we want to help. We are committed to providing an opportunity for people to re-enter the workforce as quickly as possible and with a stronger skill set than before. We are proud to announce the Workforce Recovery Acceleration Program. Designed to help all employees negatively impacted by COVID-19, we are offering an opportunity to earn a career-changing credential at a discount.

Developing programs and credentials that help people quickly, flexibly and affordably gain the knowledge and skills they need to advance their careers is in our DNA. We offer an innovative suite of stackable, modular credentials that deliver meaningful career impact – MicroMasters® Programs, Professional Certificate Programs and MicroBachelors® Programs. Starting today, anyone negatively impacted by the pandemic can earn any one of these three credentials at a 30% discount. In addition, the program is available for employers – corporations and governments – who want to help their displaced or furloughed employees.

These offerings are designed by leading universities such as MIT, Harvard, UC Berkeley and Columbia, and companies such as IBM, AWS and Microsoft, to help employees quickly learn in-demand work skills and improve their chances of landing a new job in fast-growing fields like data analytics, computer science, business and more. In addition, two of the programs – the MicroMasters programs and MicroBachelors programs – offer pathways to credit toward full Master’s or Bachelor’s degrees.

Online learning has the potential to truly change the game when it comes to getting back to work, and these credentials have the power to unlock new and bigger opportunities for those that need it most. For example, 87% of people who complete a MicroMasters program and 81% of people who complete Professional Certificate program state that they achieve a career advancement as a result, which could include a pay raise, a promotion or a new job.

We are here to help support those displaced by this pandemic the best way we can. Learn more about the program here.
