I was born in Spain but now live in Munich where I work as an intern in a tech startup – and I credit edX with my ability to start a new career.
Last year I was living and working in London, in a small company. I studied Internet Marketing in the University, so that was a really interesting opportunity for me to learn and practice, but I was not happy at all. At that moment, I realized that what I was doing is not what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.
I’d always been interested in technology, but had never learned how to code. EdX changed it all. I discovered CS50x and thanks to David J. Malan and all of his students I could start from the ground. I didn’t finish the entire course, but this was the beginning.
After CS50x ignited my passion for computer science, I registered for 6.00x to learn Python programming. It was really hard and really amazing. It gave me all the tools I needed at that moment to start learning more and more.
After that, I started learning the Django Framework by myself, using the Python skills that I got thanks to 6.00x, and working as a freelance web developer in small projects.
After some months I wrote a letter telling my story to one of the most promising tech startups in Europe because they were looking for a Python Intern. They loved my passion for learning new things so much that they gave me this amazing opportunity.
My advice to edX? Keep pushing the future of education! Well, it’s not future, it’s present.
