Back in January, edX and the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Young Scholars Program collaborated on a scholarship challenge for advanced middle school students. Every eligible seventh grade student who successfully completed a selected edX courses secured a semi-finalist position in the prestigious Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Young Scholars Program.

The Foundation received nearly 2,000 applications and 600 students advanced to the semi-finalist round. Ultimately, 70 scholarships were awarded and 10 of those went to young scholars who had completed an edX course.

The Young Scholars Program, a selective pre-college scholarship for high-performing middle school students with financial need, includes individualized academic advising, financial support, and a pathway to the foundation’s $40,000 per year college scholarship.

We are incredibly proud of our learners who took advantage of this program and now have access to the academic and financial support needed to help continue their education. At edX, our mission is to increase access to high-quality education, and we are honored to collaborate with the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation that provides access, support and educational pathways to young learners as well.

We look forward to sharing more news about our edX learners who become Young Scholar Finalists and our continued collaboration with the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation in the coming months.

Congratulations again to all the Cooke Young Scholars and edX learners! Way to go!
