One of the key goals of Making Sense of Climate Science Denial was to empower students to communicate climate science and feel confident responding to climate science denial. In the course, we explain how science communicators can make their messages “stickier” by making them simple and more concrete. We also examine the psychology of debunking and how important it is to explain the techniques of denial.
One of Making Sense of Climate Science Denial’s students, Surya Penmetsa, applied these lessons in the most practical manner – by creating his own animated video communicating the realities of climate change. Surya uses striking graphics and simple explanations to clearly communicate the scientific consensus that climate change is real and caused by humans.
