I am pleased to share news of our collaboration with Qualcomm Education to further develop edX’s mobile capabilities and enhance our open source platform to benefit learners around the world.
Qualcomm Education harnesses the power of the company’s innovations in mobile technology to improve student engagement and learning outcomes. Collaborating on a wide range of initiatives, including an enhanced mobile app, edX and Qualcomm will take MOOCs to the next level by helping students become more mobile, more engaged and by connecting the unconnected. We are working to make 24/7 learning a reality for all our learners worldwide.
To achieve this rich, on-the-go learning environment, Qualcomm Education will contribute engineering resources to edX and will license elements of its SDK code, which edX will distribute to the Open edX community.
EdX learners will be able to take their coursework with them, access it as they go about their day while using collaborative tools and mobile devices to create new and better learning experiences. This is truly the next frontier for learning worldwide. And we are working to provide you, our global learning community, with this accessible and rich learning environment.
We are pleased to be working with Qualcomm Education—we share a common vision that mobile technologies can increase access to education for everyone. And we look forward to sharing future news on edX mobile features and updates.
