Cairo, Egypt | Age 17
I’m in my final year at The English School in Cairo, and learned about edX while searching for online courses offered by the world top universities. Since discovering edX, I typically spend my day going to my high school lectures, do the homework and study school subjects, go to the gym to exercise, and then I open edX and start learning online.
My favorite subjects are physics and maths, and I hope to study Computer Science in college.
I’ve taken Big Data and Social Physics by MITx, and am currently taking MITx 6.002x Circuits and Electronics, IITBombayX Introduction to Computer Programming Part 1, BerkeleyX English Grammar and Essay Writing, CatalystX Inclusive Leadership, and HarvardX CS50.
I chose 6.002x because I love electronics, robotics and I do a lot of research on these subjects during my summer vacation and it helps me with the circuits classes in school. Education in Egypt is based mainly on graded paper exams, and there are a few activities and projects. I liked 6.002x Circuits and Electronics because it combines a lot of concepts in one course, and by taking it a person can apply what he learns to create fantastic stuff.
I took CS50 and Intro to Programming because I am already into programming — I learned basic C++ programming at the age of 15 — so I thought I’d get deeper in it. I chose English and Grammar because it helps to add more words to my vocabulary, and Inclusive Leadership to learn how a great leader behaves and leads in the right way. The courses and professors are awesome because everything is explained very well, the professors are excellent, they use a fun way to teach as so we learn without boredom also I like learning online cause I can pause, resume and play the video at the desired speed I want so I can write my notes down and learn carefully without missing anything. Generally I choose courses from edX because I want to learn more from the world top universities — not just learn, but to be the best.
