Hour of Code at edX

Yesterday, in celebration of Computer Science Education Week and Hour of Code, we hosted a special #CSEdWeekMA event with Mass TLC Ed Foundation.

We welcomed Massachusetts teachers, students and technologists to our edX offices in Cambridge to discuss the future of education and explore edX CS courses and the edX High School initiative.

Cambridge Vice Mayor Dennis Benzan kicked off the event and spoke about the importance of opening up pathways to the innovation economy and increasing access to computer science education for all learners. EdX CEO and MIT Professor examined the future of education and how online learning, like edX MOOCs, are great resources for the classroom and for learners to explore new interests. Then, teachers and students started coding in edX programming courses.

Thank you to all who attended and to the Mass TLC Ed Foundation for co-hosting a great event. It was wonderful to connect with local educators and students and consider the future of computer programming education in local Massachusetts schools.
